The Edith McMorran Verse Translation Prize winners announced
Congratulations to this year’s Edith McMorran Verse Translation Prize winners. This year the Prize has been awarded jointly to Theodora Bradbury (1st year German) and Hannah Fisher-Jones (4th year EMEL: Spanish & Arabic).
The late Edith McMorran was a Lecturer in French at St Hugh’s College and also founded TRIO (Translation Research in Oxford), which organised a number of important day conferences on such topics as the new translations of Freud and Proust.
Edith left some money to the College, and it was decided to set up an annual Verse Translation Prize bearing her name. Entries are translations into English of verse writing in either French, German, Italian or Spanish.
