Anna Magdalena Elsner’s research interests are in twentieth-century French and comparative literature, philosophy and film. She has recently completed a doctoral thesis on mourning and creativity in the works of Marcel Proust, Jacques Derrida and Sigmund Freud.
She has published articles on Proust and French documentary cinema and is the co-editor of Anamnesia: Private and Public Memory in Modern French Culture (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2009). Anna is currently co-editing a book on mourning and the moving image and working on a new project that assesses the role of illness and pain in the writings of Proust, Woolf and Rilke.
