POSTPONED: ‘”My Family and Other Victorians”: Dame Joan Evans and the Victorian legacy’, Professor Martin Hewitt

The St Hugh’s Academic Lecture Series

Professor Hewitt is a historian of Britain and its culture in the nineteenth century. He is convening the first Belcher Colloquium, in June 2020, on the topic of public lecturing in Victorian Britain.

His current research projects include ‘Darwinism’s Generations: the reception of Darwinian evolution in Britain, 1859-1909’, and a book in the OUP Very Short Introductions series; The Victorians.

He is a co-editor of the substantial Routledge Nineteenth Century British Society digital resource, which will offer primary source material and secondary selected literature to scholars when it is launched in 2021.

The lecture, in Maplethorpe Hall, will be followed by an audience Q and A session, and then a drinks reception. All are welcome and the event is open to the public.
