The Art of Collecting

We are delighted to be hosting a one-day conference on ‘The Art of Collecting’

at the Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre Building in the grounds of St Hugh’s.

The conference will be chaired by St Hugh’s Fellow, Associate Professor Shelagh Vainker, who is also Curator of Chinese Art at the Ashmolean Museum.

Topics of discussion will include the Sir Percival David Collection, one of the finest collections of Chinese ceramics in the world. Experts from Hong Kong and the United States will also be talking about their own collections of Chinese robes and Himalayan jewellery.

Attendees will be able to register from 9.15am and sessions will run from 9.45am to 4.15pm. Lunch will be provided and afternoon tea will be served following the final session.

Admission is free, but booking is required.
