St Hugh’s College alumni and friends are warmly invited to a private screening of It’s a Wonderful Life at Regent Street Cinema, the birthplace of British Cinema, on Tuesday 5 December 2017 at 6.15pm. It’s a Wonderful Life was recently named the best Christmas movie of all time by TimeOut London, so this promises to be a wonderful start to the festive season.
Recently restored and re-opened by the University of Westminster, the Cinema made history on 20 February 1896, when the Lumière brothers’ Cinématographe machine presented moving pictures to a paying audience in the UK for the very first time.
Our evening will open with a drinks reception and buffet, and a brief talk on the history and restoration of the Cinema from the Archivist, Elaine Penn, before our film showing begins. The event is expected to finish at around 9.30pm.
We expect this event to be extremely popular, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Standard tickets for this event are £35, with a discounted rate of £20 available for under 30s.
Guests are most welcome.
