Keeping you in the conversation at St Hugh’s
Your connection with St Hugh’s is lifelong, and the Development & Alumni Team is committed to supporting you, wherever you end up in the world.
We fully appreciate that for many, St Hugh’s is a home away from home and we want to ensure that members of the global alumni community feel that they are able to come back to College and enjoy a warm welcome.
Below are just some of the benefits that our alumni can enjoy, both in person at St Hugh’s and from wherever they are in the world. This list will only keep growing and, as firm believers in lifelong learning, we look forward to continuing to provide stimulating, intelligent conversations at all our activities.
If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, we always want to hear from you.
Alumni Support & Opportunities
St Hugh’s remains a welcoming, friendly space for our students: past, present and future.
Visit us
We’re always thrilled to welcome alumni and their guests back to College. Whenever possible, let us know of your visit ahead of time either by phone or email. Please make your visit between 9am and 5pm and report to the Porter’s Lodge upon arrival. Feel free to drop by the Development Office for a chat or let us know if you’d like a tour.
The Chapel
Alumni are welcome to use the Chapel for private reflection, meditation and prayer.
The Library
Our team of Librarians are happy to host alumni for accompanied visits to the Library. Please note that this is easier out of term time – as always, it can get very busy.
Weddings & Private Functions
Alumni are warmly encouraged to consider using the College spaces (including gardens) for events, both private and professional. Please contact the Conferences Team for more information.
Discounted B&B Stays
We have a number of rooms available to book in College. Availability is much higher out of term time. Alumni can claim a 10% discount on bookings, please contact the Accommodation Team.
Lifelong learning at Oxford is truly lifelong, and we are delighted to be able to keep you informed and inspired by our community of academics.
Chronicle
Our annual magazine and record of activities, we share this important document with all alumni digitally. Physical copies are available upon request. Featuring academic articles from College Fellows, interviews with alumni, updates from Senior College Officers and more. View past issues of the Chronicle here.
Online lecture series
Looking to relaunch in Michaelmas Term 2026, and featuring webinars from College Fellows and academics, we look forward to keeping alumni up to date with the very latest research happening at St Hugh’s.
Monthly newsletter
We send out a roundup of events, news, articles and more on the last day of each month. If you haven’t been receiving this, make sure to update your details here.
Our role as educators is to prepare the next generation of leaders, researchers and policy makers for a fast-changing world.
Global networking
With alumni found in more than 160 countries, our community is more international than ever. We are going to be expanding on our international programme of events with activities organised in partnership with alumni in-country. If you would like to volunteer and help organise these, please get in touch.
Careers support
All Oxford graduates can receive targeted support from the Careers Service. They particularly recommend that graduates make use of this support in the first two years after graduation, wherein they can book one-to-one careers advice appointments. Beyond two years there is targeted help available to graduates thinking of changing careers, returning to the jobs market after a break, or wanting to ‘give back’.
Mentoring
Coming soon! Alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-student programmes. If you are interested in registering your interest to become an Alumni Mentor, please contact us.
Last but not least – former students of St Hugh’s are part of a truly global alumni community. Let us help you stay connected and inspired by this wonderful network.
Events
From major reunions like Jubilee Dinners and Gaudies to local networking gatherings where you are, we try to keep the spirit of community alive among our alumni and friends. We also host an annual Garden Party in June, where hundreds of former students return to college with friends and family.
Local groups
We have various bodies of alumni who meet together on a semi-regular basis around the world. From organising tours to hosting dinners, these groups are run by volunteers for other alumni. We are looking to expand this and provide more support to alumni volunteers. If you would like to get involved in this, whether by helping set up a new group or joining an existing one, please get in touch.
Sharing your successes
We love hearing from our alumni, and are always delighted to be able to shine a light on our community’s successes. From announcing industry awards, to sharing book launches, even to notifying others of marriages, we want to hear from you. We hold space in the annual Chronicle just for this reason. Get in touch with your news, and soon if you would like it to be included in this year’s Chronicle.
