St Hugh’s College is delighted to be hosting An Evening with John Donne, a celebration of the extraordinary work of the 17th-century poet. The event will take place on Tuesday 9 June.
You are warmly invited to join us in the College’s Maplethorpe Hall from 4:45pm to enjoy a series of readings, as well as a short talk by Dr Ted Tregear (Merton College) about Donne’s life and work. You are also welcome to stay for a drinks reception (at the same location) from 5.45pm to 6.15pm, where we will carry on the conversation and conviviality.
Tickets are free, but booking is essential for admission.
We also need readers! If you would like to volunteer to recite a poem (with or without notes), please let Dr. Julius Grower (julius.grower@law.ox.ac.uk) know. (Please note, we cannot guarantee that your first-choice poem will be available, so do feel free to suggest an alternative or two).
If you need any more information, please contact Dr Grower or Professor Taylor.
