St Hugh’s students part of winning team at Football Plate Final

Congratulations to the St Hugh’s football players who won the 2026 Hassan’s Plate Final at Oxford City Stadium! The St Hugh’s and Wadham FC side stormed to a decisive 4-1 victory over Hertford College FC, concluding a successful season. The team was led by two co-captains from St Hugh’s, Thomas Fairbanks (Earth Sciences, 2024) and Raghu Krishnan (Archaeology and Anthropology, 2024).

The match proved to be a thoroughly exciting affair; after an early goal by Hertford, the St Hugh’s/Wadham side were trailing 1-0 for 70 minutes before scoring four goals in quick succession, including a hat-trick from co-captain, Thomas Fairbanks.

Raghu Krishnan said “It was a nice way to cap off a season where we have won the league for both the first and second team and our second team also won reserve cuppers, so all in all it’s been a very successful season.”
