We believe that talent and potential should never be limited by financial circumstances. Our new Student Support Fund represents a comprehensive approach to ensuring every student can fully participate in College life and focus on their studies without undue financial pressure.
This strategic initiative serves two essential purposes. First, it provides direct financial assistance to students facing unexpected hardship, ensuring immediate support when it’s most needed. Second, it helps maintain affordable accommodation and dining costs for all students, enabling everyone to fully engage in the College community.
Currently, St Hugh’s subsidises annual living costs by approximately £1,700 for each undergraduate and £850 for each graduate student. Through the Student Support Fund, we aim to sustain these vital subsidies while developing long-term solutions to manage increasing costs.
In recognition of the vital importance of this fund, a generous alumnus has pledged up to £50,000 of matched funding for gifts to this scheme, ensuring the generosity of our community will go further.
