St Hugh’s Masters Student participates in Summit of the Future at UN General Assembly

St Hugh’s graduate student, Shireen Kalra (MSc Education (Higher Education)), attended the United Nations General Assembly Summit of the Future Action Days at the UN Headquarters in New York held on 20 and 21 September.
Representing the United Nations Millennium Fellowship – global movement of young changemakers led by the Millennium Campus Network in partnership with UN Academic Impact, Shireen engaged with a diverse group of world leaders and experts during the course of the summit. The Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly brought together young leaders from around the world to focus on strategies for achieving sustainable development goals that are inclusive and equitable. The summit emphasised collaboration and innovative solutions to address global challenges, ensuring a peaceful and sustainable future for all.
Keynote speakers in the summit included UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of member states, high-ranking UN officials, ambassadors, and industry leaders. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also addressed the summit.
In addition to the Summit, Shireen participated in several key civil society events during the United Nations General Assembly week, including Goalkeepers 2030 hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Big Bets for Climate Futures at the Rockefeller Foundation, Her Power hosted by Foreign Policy x Mastercard, and the UNDP Impact Lounge.
