Examples include:
- sudden loss of income
- unexpected essential costs
- emergency circumstances
- significant cost-of-living increases during your course
Not unexpected: insufficient planning, foreseeable expenses, pre-existing debts, or expected course costs.
- Can I apply for help with course fees?
No, course fees are not covered by these funds.
- What evidence do I need for a financial assistance application?
You may be asked to provide:
- a short financial statement, as part of the application form
- budget details
- evidence of unexpected changes in circumstances
- Can I apply for a Travel Grant after returning?
No. Retrospective applications are not normally considered.
- Are MBA treks eligible for travel funding?
No. They are not considered part of the formal MBA programme.
- Can I receive support for childcare?
Only in exceptional circumstances. Students are expected to have planned for childcare needs before starting their studies.
- What if my financial situation is unsustainable overall?
The Committee needs to be confident that you can fund the remainder of your course. If not, an award may not be made unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- Can I apply for help replacing stolen or damaged items?
Only after reporting the loss to the police and making an insurance claim.
- How often can I apply?
- Travel Grants: once per academic term
- Financial Assistance: once per academic term
- Year Abroad Grants: once for each year abroad
