Business Breakfast: ‘Think Like A Brand’

We’re delighted to announce the return of the St Hugh’s Business Breakfast Series on 9 May 2024!

From global corporations to small charities; from us as individuals to St Hugh’s College itself – do we all now need to think about our brand and its reputation?

St Hugh’s alumni and students are warmly invited to join our distinguished speakers Umeeda Nathoo (nee Bhaloo, Modern Languages, 1994) and Dr Alex Connock (St Hugh’s Lecturer in Management) for their session, ‘Think Like A Brand’, at the Museum of Brands in Notting Hill, London (W11 1QT).

Guests are warmly invited to view the Museum’s fascinating exhibitions during the networking sessions, or to stay on after the event to view them at their leisure.

Booking Information

To book your ticket for the Business Breakfast, please fill in the online booking form below. Alumni tickets are £15. Tickets for current St Hugh’s students are £5. All tickets include the buffet breakfast and entry to the Museum as part of the event. To allow as many alumni to attend as possible, guest tickets will not be available for this event.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment, and by 2 May 2024 at the latest.

We would be delighted if you would consider making a donation to the Student Support Fund when you book your ticket. Donations to this fund are used to provide grants to students facing financial difficulty, to fund welfare support initiatives for students, and to reward excellence by offering scholarships, awards and prizes to our most talented students.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of the cancellation of the event all guests will be offered a full refund for their ticket.

If you have booked for the Business Breakfast and need to cancel your ticket, please contact the Development Team at the earliest opportunity. We will offer a full refund for tickets cancelled up to a week prior to the event.

Umeeda Nathoo (Modern Languages, 1994)

Umeeda Nathoo is a brand marketer with 15+ years spent leading some of the world’s most well-known and well-loved brands – from Coca-Cola and PepsiCo to L’Oreal. She is passionate about transferring her blue-chip experience and love of marketing to the non-profit sector to help build and scale pioneering organisations in areas of special interest, particularly in the spheres of mental health and education.

Her current roles include Marketing & Communications Advisor & Board Trustee of LMK (Let me Know), a UK-based relationship education non-profit, and Board Advisor to Friendship Bench, a Zimbabwean-based NGO focused on democratising access to mental healthcare.

Umeeda has an MA in Modern Languages from St Hugh’s College, and a Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Dr Alex Connock (St Hugh's Lecturer in Management)

Dr Alex Connock is an Oxford academic in the media business and author of the book Media Management and Artificial Intelligence: Understanding Media Business Models in the Digital Age (Routledge, 2022), as well as the newly published follow-up title Media Management and Live Experience: Sports, Culture, Entertainment and Events.

Academically, Alex is Senior Fellow at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, teaching Marketing and Media Business courses at BA, MBA and EMBA level. He co-launched and ran Oxford postgraduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Business from 2021-3 and is Lecturer at St Hugh’s College, Oxford in Management.

Alex is also Professor in Media and Artificial Intelligence at Exeter University. He has a PhD in video optimisation for e-commerce and degrees from Oxford (PPE), Columbia (Journalism) and INSEAD (MBA).

Entrepreneurially, Alex has created and grown multiple media companies. From 2012-17 he was Managing Director of TV and digital production business Endemol Shine North (now Workerbee) through a period of substantial growth. Between 1998 and 2011 he co-founded, and ran as CEO, the media group Ten Alps (now Zinc Media) with Bob Geldof – producing hundreds of programmes for UK and international broadcasters, as well as substantial digital and branded content output, including the UK government’s Teachers TV project. He has worked directly for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and PEOPLE Magazine. He has been six times shortlisted as Entrepreneur of the Year.

In the charity sector Alex is Vice Chair at UNICEF UK and a director at The Halle Orchestra.
