News of the passing of alumna Mrs Jeanette Cockshoot

Jeanette Cockshoot

We have received the very sad news that Jeannette Cockshoot née Johnson (English Language and Literature, 1944) passed away on 21st July 2017.

Jeanette will be known to many alumni through her role as the Honorary Secretary of the Association for Senior Members, a position she held for over 20 years.

After her studies Jeanette worked at the Foreign Office, before her passion for music led to a career in singing – both as a tutor and a soloist in opera and oratorio. Jeanette lived locally to St Hugh’s and was active in the community, particularly within historical societies and her local church.

She was a valued friend of College, attending many events here until very recently. We will truly miss her and our thoughts are with all her friends and loved ones.

Details of the funeral, to be held at St Lawrence Church, North Hinksey OX2 0LZ, can be obtained from S&R Childs Funeral Services 01865 427272.
