Professor Marshall said: “I am thrilled and honoured to have been elected to the Academia Europaea. This is a recognition not only of my own work, but of that of all of my students, post docs and collaborators over the past 25 years.”

St Hugh’s Principal the Rt Hon Dame Elish Angiolini DBE QC offered her congratulations to Professor Marshall on behalf of everybody at St Hugh’s: “This is fantastic news. The College is enormously proud of Professor Marshall’s outstanding research on oceans. This is a tremendous achievement and is richly deserved.”
