The St David’s Day Lecture: First Minister Carwyn Jones

College was delighted to welcome the Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister of Wales, to St Hugh’s on 8 March.

The First Minister gave our inaugural (and slightly delayed) St David’s Day Lecture. As the date fell on International Women’s Day he spoke on the subject “The women of Wales – past, present and future.”

The speech was reported by ITV and WalesOnline.

Following the lecture, the First Minister and guests joined Dame Elish for dinner. At the end of the evening, the Principal’s puppy, Tilly, charged out of the front door and ran out into the night. Thanks to the First Minister for racing out of his car, catching Tilly and bringing her back safely!
