St Hugh’s College awarded Oxford Living Wage accreditation

We are delighted to announce that St Hugh’s College has become an accredited Oxford Living Wage employer for 2025-26. This reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to fair pay and supporting our employees to live and work in one of the UK’s most expensive cities.

The Oxford Living Wage for 2025-26 is £13.16/hour, set at 95% of the London Living Wage as determined by the Living Wage Foundation. The rates are calculated each year by the Resolution Foundation using an established methodology to ensure people earn enough to afford a minimum acceptable standard of living.

Although the College is already paying staff at or above the Oxford Living Wage, formal accreditation as a Living Wage Employer is an important next step.  It recognises our existing good practice and demonstrates our long-term commitment to fair pay for our staff whilst building a fairer and more inclusive local economy.

St Hugh’s Head of Human Resources, Eva Mahar, said, ‘This accreditation illustrates our commitment to be the best employer in the Collegiate University. Together with our adoption of initiatives from the University’s Pay and Conditions Review which align us to sector standards, being an Oxford Living Wage employer ensures that we provide an excellent and competitive pay and conditions package for our staff.’
