Weber and Brenda Lo, and Eddy and Emily Tang honoured and celebrated by St Hugh’s College

St Hugh’s is very pleased to report that Mr Weber Lo and Mrs Brenda Lo, and Mr Eddy Tang and Mrs Emily Tang, were appointed as Elizabeth Wordsworth Fellows of the College, in a ceremony in Mordan Hall on 13th September 2017.

The philanthropic fellowship known as the Elizabeth Wordsworth Fellowship, after our founder, is granted by Governing Body to those whose exceptional philanthropy, support and guidance to the College merits such distinction.

The Rt Hon Dame Elish Angiolini DBE QC, Principal of St Hugh’s, offered her warmest congratulations to Mr and Mrs Tang, and to Mr and Mrs Lo. She said the appointments were “a reflection of their tremendous generosity and charity towards the College, for which we are very grateful.”

“The University of Oxford has benefitted greatly, as has our College, from acts of extraordinary philanthropy and generosity from both our alumni and educational philanthropists. It is right that we continue to fully recognise and thank those who support our academic endeavour.”

Eddy Tang

Eddy Tang is Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Union Medical Healthcare in Hong Kong, a premium healthcare company that he founded in 2005.  It is now the largest aesthetic medical service provider in Hong Kong, with around 50 full time doctors and 1,000 full-time employees in Hong Kong and China. The group was named as the Hong Kong Service Top Brand in 2016 by the Hong Kong Brand Development Council.

Emily Tang

Mr Tang’s wife Emily is a part-time consultant in education business for the overseas degree programme at the University of Tasmania and Northern Melbourne, Institute of TAFE in Hong Kong.

Weber Lo has been Citibank Country Officer & Chief Executive Officer for Citibank Hong Kong and Macau since January 2013. He oversees all businesses across the Citibank franchise in the two markets serving the Institutional Clients Group and Global Consumer Banking. He is a member of the Citibank Asia Pacific Operating Committee and is the Chief Executive of Citibank N.A. Hong Kong Branch and the Chairman of Citibank Hong Kong Ltd. which he capitalizes on the emerging growth opportunities between China and Hong Kong.

Brenda Lo has been Managing Partner at China Alpha Fund Management (HK) for almost two years. Previously, she spent almost twelve years as Managing Director of Asia for Permal Investment Management.
