As part of the University of Oxford, teaching is at the heart of our mission. We know that the tutorial system produces outstanding graduates and that this aspect of an Oxford education is what sets it apart. To ensure that we are growing and sustaining our academic community with rigor we must attract and retain academics across priority disciplines. The Fellows of St Hugh’s are leading academics and their thought provoking, supportive teaching creates a vibrant intellectual community. By attracting and supporting talented researchers and tutors, we are further enriching the student experience as well as creating a groundswell for academic impact.
Delivering tutorials to a high standard is costly, but it is at the heart of the Collegiate system, and is something we are firmly supportive of. By giving to the Principal’s Teaching Fund, you can help us endow Fellowships across the College, ensuring that we can both continue to maintain our excellent academic standard of teaching and that we can reduce the pressure on core College finances.
We are proud of the fact that thirteen of our twenty one Named Fellowships are named after women, a tradition that together we can continue to foster. Specific Fellowships that have dedicated individual funds include the Luke Lunn Maths Fellowship, the Ann Smart Law Fellowship, and the Jenny Green Chemistry Fellowship.
