College hosts exhibition on the history of the DPhil

St Hugh’s is very pleased to be hosting an exhibition on the history of the DPhil at Oxford.

One of our alumna, Dr Evelyn Simpson, was the first woman to be awarded a DPhil, in 1922 for her thesis entitled, ‘The prose works of John Donne’.

The exhibition was launched last year to mark the centenary of the DPhil, which came into being in 1919.

All are welcome to view the exhibition, in the Hamlin Gallery, which was designed by the University’s Graduate Admissions and Recruitment office. It will be on display for the rest of the month.
