St Hugh’s is delighted to see two of our alumnae named in the New Year Honours list. Both were awarded OBEs.

Hilary Cottam (Modern History, 1984), a social entrepreneur, was honoured for “services to the British Welfare State”. In 2019 her book Radical Help: How We Can Remake the Relationships Between Us and Revolutionise the Welfare State was published by Virago.

Juliet Pleydell-Bouverie (Modern Languages, 1986), Chief Executive of the Stroke Association, was given an OBE for her services to stroke survivors.
