St Hugh’s Fellow appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for People and Culture

Congratulations to St Hugh’s Tutorial Fellow in the Politics of Latin America, Professor David Doyle, who has been appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for People and Culture. He will take up the post in September 2026. In this role, David will lead on the implementation of the University’s people strategy and people initiatives across Oxford University.

David has been Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) at Oxford University since 2024, and will step down from the role at the end of this academic year. He will continue as Professor of Politics at the DPIR and at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA).

David said, ‘Serving as Head of Department at the DPIR over the past two years has been both a privilege and a pleasure. I have had the opportunity to work alongside outstanding colleagues and students, and together we have made significant progress in strengthening the department’s standing and ambition. I am very much looking forward to leading the implementation of the University’s people strategy and people initiatives which will not only ensure we retain our current talented workforce, but will also serve to attract prospective top performing candidates going forward.’
