St Hugh’s high achieving undergraduate students awarded scholarships and exhibitions
Congratulations to the St Hugh’s Scholars and Exhibitioners who made their formal declaration to the Governing Body on Wednesday 3 December. These awards were made by the College in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
Scholarships are usually awarded to undergraduates who have obtained a First or a Distinction in their First Public Examination. Scholarships are worth £300 annually and are granted from the start of the academic year following the examination. Exhibitions are another form of scholarship and are worth £200 annually. Recommendations for these awards may be made by subject tutors in the cases of candidates who, following a year of strong academic performance, were very close to achieving a First or a Distinction in either First Public or intermediate examinations, or who obtained a University Prize in a single paper in such examinations.
St Hugh’s Senior Tutor, Professor Robert Vilain said, ‘the College is extremely proud of these undergraduate students whose academic performance has been of a very high standard. We are committed to providing an exceptional education for everyone, and I hope that these achievements will be an inspiration to those considering studying for their degrees here at St Hugh’s College.’
