St Hugh’s Undergraduate named in Blue Boat for Lightweight Boat Race 2023

Congratulations to our 4th year Biology Undergraduate Indigo Buckler Weerdmeester who has been named in the Blue Boat for Lightweight Boat Race on Monday 20 March.

Indigo learnt to row at St Hugh’s Boat Club (SHBC) in her first year at College. Her current race time is 10.20am sharp at the Championship Course (River Thames; 6.8km race from Putney to Chiswick).

Indigo said, ‘Having learnt to row in my first year, I am incredibly proud to be representing St Hugh’s in the Lightweight Boat Race. The friendliness of the college and sportsmanship of our community is a huge reason why I have loved rowing here and it has been key to my progression. I was SHBC Women’s Captain in my 3rd year (2021-2022) and Captain of Coxes this year (2022-2023), so I still try and stay as involved in college rowing as I can. I can’t wait to come back for Summer VIII’s and thanks to everyone for their support over the years!

We wish Indigo and all the Lightweight Boat team the best of luck for Monday’s race!
