St Hugh’s welcomes distinguished guest, Honorary Fellow, Jane Glover (Music, 1968)

On the evening of Saturday 20 September 2025, St Hugh’s alumni gathered for a memorable College dinner featuring our distinguished guest of honour, Dame Jane Glover (Music, 1968) – Honorary Fellow and world-renowned musicologist and conductor.

As a proud alumna of St Hugh’s, Dame Jane delivered a warm and heartfelt speech, sharing how her time at the College played a pivotal role in shaping her future. She was joined by Ertegun Director and Senior Scholar in Resident, Professor Jonathan Cross, who co-hosted the event and spoke with great eloquence at the dinner, highlighting Dame Jane’s many accomplishments and contributions to the world of music.

Our new Principal, Michele Acton, took the opportunity to introduce herself to alumni, commenting that she had ‘already been struck by what a great community there is at the College’. Guests remarked on the warm connections on the evening and expressed their delight at being back at College, making the occasion a truly special highlight of the ‘Meeting Minds Oxford’ alumni weekend.
