St Hugh’s Tutorial Fellow elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science

Congratulations to St Hugh’s Tutorial Fellow in Experimental Psychology and Professor of Cognitive Science at the University of Oxford, Professor Asifa Majid FBA, who has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Professor Majid is being honoured for her contributions to understanding language, culture, and cognition, especially the relation between language and sensory processing, for contributions to public understanding of science, and for strengthening scientific communities.
The new Fellows will receive a certificate and a gold and blue rosette pin (representing science and engineering, respectively) to commemorate their election and will be celebrated at a forum in Washington, D.C. on 7 June 2025.
AAAS is one of the world’s largest general scientific societies and publisher of the Science family of journals. This year’s class of Fellows comprised of 471 scientists, engineers and innovators across 24 AAAS disciplinary Sections. AAAS chief executive officer and executive publisher of the Science family of journals, S Parikh, PhD, said, ‘This year’s class of Fellows are the embodiment of scientific excellence and service to our communities. At a time when the future of the scientific enterprise in the U.S. and around the world is uncertain, their work demonstrates the value of sustained investment in science and engineering.’
