STEP inTO OxMed Outreach Event

We are delighted to announce that STEP inTO OxMed is to host Clinical Skills Workshop on 2nd and 3rd June.

STEP inTO OxMed, an outreach initiative for prospective medical students from under-represented backgrounds founded by St Hugh’s Graduate Entry Medic, Síle Johnson, is hosting a Clinical Skills Workshop at the John Radcliffe Hospital on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd June 2021.

This event will host 40 local students from widening participation backgrounds. The aims of the workshop are to introduce prospective medical students to multiple aspects of medicine and medical science, demystify the medicine application processes and most importantly, to provide a friendly and supportive environment for prospective students to engage, ask questions and feel reassured that medicine at Oxford actively welcome students from all backgrounds.

Students will engage in various activities such as basic life support, oxygen therapy administration, and clinical scenario simulations. They will also have the opportunity to discuss their applications, career aspirations and uncertainties with current medical students, doctors and medical scientists.

St Hugh’s is proud to partner STEP inTO OxMed. Since its inception in 2020, our tutors and outreach team have been supporting the organisation’s activities in successfully raising awareness of the opportunities in medicine available to everyone no matter what their background.
